Deep Cleaning Your... Mattress?
A mattress is where we spend around one-third of our lives, and yet it is often overlooked when it comes to cleaning. Neglecting your mattress can lead to the buildup of dust mites, bacteria, and allergens that can negatively impact your health. In this article, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to deep clean your mattress and keep it fresh and hygienic.
Step 1: Remove all bedding and vacuum the mattress thoroughly. Use the upholstery attachment to get into the crevices and seams.
Step 2: Sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the mattress. This will help to deodorize and absorb any moisture.
Step 3: Let the baking soda sit for at least 30 minutes, but preferably a few hours. This will give it time to work its magic.
Step 4: Vacuum the baking soda off the mattress using the upholstery attachment.
Step 5: Treat any stains on the mattress with a stain remover. Make sure to follow the instructions on the label and test it on an inconspicuous area first.
Step 6: If your mattress has any odors that won't go away, you can use a fabric freshener spray. Again, make sure to follow the instructions on the label.
Step 7: Flip the mattress over and repeat steps 1-6 on the other side.
Step 8: If you have a memory foam mattress, do not use any liquids on it as they can damage the foam. Instead, use a handheld vacuum to remove any debris and spot clean any stains with a damp cloth.
Step 9: Finally, invest in a mattress protector to keep your mattress clean and fresh. A good quality protector will prevent any dirt, dust, or spills from penetrating the mattress surface.
By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your mattress is clean, fresh, and hygienic. A deep clean should be done at least twice a year, but it's always a good idea to spot clean any spills or stains as soon as they happen. Take care of your mattress, and it will take care of you!
